Could it be that mystery about Danish phenomenon (countless amount of very talented musicians) is solved? Is being raised among wolves the answer? As a sociologist I'd have to say that it's one of the worst kinds of socialization for human, but as a music lover, I'd say... if it results in such a good music, let it be! ;-)

I think in this case the name speaksfor itself, however it stays shrouded inmystery and gives a field for speculation if band members really are musical Mowglis ;-)
This time my inner need for musical exploration was satisfied by Jonas Pernholm, so I can say I got to know about Icona Pop at first hand. ;-) However this is a kind of satisfaction, which is followed by stronger desire for more... I really want more of Icona Pop! Although I still can't get "Manners" out of my head, there is lots of space for rest great songs. This beautiful female duo playfully teases my sense of hearing by unconventional modern electro sounds, never monotonously predictible, which is perfect 'cause this sense should be stimulated variously ;-)

This is my own, simpliest etymology - 'icona pop' in Italian /unsurprisingly/ means 'pop icon'.
I guess everyone knows what 'pop icon' is, but it's always good to confront colloquial knowledge with dictionarydefinition. One of them says: 'A pop icon is a is a celebrity whose popularity (hence, "pop") remains constant or even increases as time goes by.'
It would be wonderful if this band name became self-fulfilled prophecy.

Caroline and Aino came to the world’s attention thanks to a track ‘Manners’, which was released on Kitsuné Maison 10 “The Fireworks Issue” in November 2010, it encouraged girls to follow this up by self-releasing, and giving away for free their new single ‘Still Don’t Know’.
As an added bonus they share an extended dub of 'Manners' with anyone who signs up to the mailing list on their new website.
On March 21th, 2011 they released AA-side debut single "Manners"/"Top Rated" through Neon Gold. “Manners” was produced by Patrick Berger the man behind last years all conquering Robyn smash “Dancing On My Own”. It gets goodreviews and brings lots of new fans. Currently girls have been working hard in the studio, hopefully we'll hear something new from them very soon.

"Moniker" is another term for a nickname, pseudonym, or cognomen. Typically, the title is used as a personal or professional name, instead of the person's given name, for works of art, music, books, or performances.
This is how the band explains their name: 'The Eclectic Moniker means, in essence, the nickname under which lots of different parts is put together to create a coherent universe.'

'After many years gigging as a sideman, Frederik Vedersø, started focusing on what might could be done with an outfit of his own.
Incidentally of more melancholic poprock-ish descent, it turned out that the pop idiom was far more fruitful to navigate for the danish guitarist and singer.
The band started out as a trio, but grew into a spectacular musicians collective of 10 old friends primarily from The Carl Nielsen Academy of Music in Odense who met up on Nørrebro, Copenhagen, almost simultaneously, everyone of them eager to pursue a life in music.
The group has existed since February 2010. In this time the band has toured in Denmark and Germany, recieved airplay on danish and german radio and played a memorable gig at Start! Festival 2010 in Copenhagen.
The crux of The Eclectic Moniker is as such the coming together of many different and lovely parts both musically and personally, to create a bigger wonderful coherent whole.
The band is currently gigging in and around Copenhagen whilst producing material for a release sometime in 2011.' source
